CRISPINO | Play-by-play
Currently working primarily as the host of New Jersey Nets and New York Islanders telecasts, over the last eight years, he has served in a multitude of roles for the Network serving as a substitute host for "Yankees ScoreCard" (where in 1996 he was the first one to interview Dwight Gooden after his no-hitter as part of MSG's New York Emmy award-winning coverage), Rangers "GameNight" and Knicks "GameNight." In 1995, Crispino was a commentator on the MSG Network team that won the New York Emmy for "Outstanding Live Sports Coverage" of the 21st annual Colgate Women's Games.
In 1995, Crispino began co-hosting MSG's "At The Garden" show, a program that looks at the different events taking place throughout the arena and other MSG properties. In 1998, Crispino started serving as host for New Jersey Nets and New York Islanders telecasts on FOX Sports Net (FSN). For these teams, he also fills in as play-by-play announcer.
For the past two years, he has called the play-by-play action for Bridgeport Bluefish games (Atlantic Baseball League) on Cablevision TV and WICC Radio. From 1997-1998, he served as MSG Network's play-by-play voice for CityHawks arena football games and hosted "The St. John's Report" and "Heineken Jets Journal." From 1995 to 1999, he co-hosted "The Sharp Jets/Giants Report" withDave Jennings. Since 1992, Crispino has served as an anchor and reporter for "SportsDesk" on MSG Network.
Before joining MSG Network in 1992, Crispino won several awards while working as a television sports director, handling television play-by-play work and hosting a radio talk show.
On the television side, Crispino was the sports director of WLVI-TV in Boston from 1988 to 1992, anchoring sports news and special programs. He handled the station's play-by-play chores for their coverage of the Boston Celtics (alongside Celtics legend Bob Cousy) and the New England Patriots. For their efforts, Crispino's sports department at WLVI was named the "Best in New England" by the Associated Press in 1989 and 1990. From 1988-92, he called the play-by-play for college basketball games on ESPN and SportsChannel, while also calling the action for college football, boxing, baseball, and lacrosse for the New England Sports Network (NESN).
Crispino won two New England Emmy awards for "Outstanding Sportscast" and "Best Play-By-Play." In 1991, he was honored with the "Best of Gannett" award for reporting.
Before moving to Boston, Crispino began his television career in his hometown of Hartford, CT, as Sports Director of WVIT-TV, while briefly working as a sports anchor at ESPN in 1982.
On the radio side, Crispino, who worked as an associate professor of communications at Northeast Broadcast School in 1992, hosted a talk show at WEEI Radio in Boston from 1988 to 1992. He began his radio career in Hartford at WKSS Radio as a sports commentator from 1984-88. More recently, Crispino worked as play-by-play announcer for Big-10 football games on CBS Radio.
Crispino, a saxophone player and an expert on jazz music, is a graduate of Long Island University with a degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice. He received a Master's Degree in Educational Media from Simmons College in 1976. He lives with his wife Jean, daughter Sara and son Mac in Southport, Connecticut.
