Street
Skillz, with an eye towards helping out with the revival of
New York City as the media capitol of the world, selected Dyckman
Park on the upper West Side of New York City to shoot its pilot
episode. New York City is world renowned for hosting great events
and for being used as a backdrop for TV and movies. The pilot featured
a New York City Final Four with the winning team coming from Brooklyn.
John Thomas, known as Mookie, Mooki, Mooke was awarded the
MVP and the guaranteed contract with the USBL. He will play with
the Adirondack Wildcats next season. Local Dyckman product, "Body
in the Trunk", took home the hardware as the first-ever Street
Skillz slam-dunk champion. The pilot was sponsored by Lugz,
Foot Locker and Game
Over Athletics.
Doug E. Fresh, Hip-Hop Hall of Famer and the king of Beat
Box performed live. Royce DA 59, the latest musical sensation out
of Detroit, also performed live. Royce is produced by Eminem.
Ed Lover hosted the pilot.
Ed Lover is the morning DJ from New Yorks Power 105. 1 and is currently
staring the major motion picture Undisputed. He has hosted Yo! MTV
Raps on MTV and KO Nation on HBO. Super model Zu-Baydah
co-hosted the show with Ed Lover. Zu-Baydah has hosted Wild On on
E!. Madd-Sports on B.E.T. and Gate D the New Jersey Nets show on
Fox Sports New York. Mike Crispino
handled the play- by-play duties for the show. Mike is a staple
of the Madison Square Garden Network handling play-by-play and hosting
duties. Griffy, a comedian
out of Atlanta, served as the color commentator for the game action.
This unique and hysterically funny tandem delivered basketball in
a way that has never been heard before! Crispinos extraordinary
play-by-play delivers the story line of the game while Griffys color
commentary delivers a fresh, funny, street cool urban edge to the
telecast!
Kadar, a comedian out of Baltimore,
is our Street Skillz "official" official; he always wear a microphone
and keeps the action in line, to a degree. Kedar is a cross between
a comedian and a bouncer. If you think that the trash talk will
only be between the players...wait until you hear our ref dish the
dirt! |
